This intensive one-day workshop offered by HASC and presented by CLC and the Public Health Alliance of Southern California provides an in-depth overview of the role hospitals play in advancing health equity across their organizations and in the communities they serve.
The workshop will cover foundational concepts central to advancing health equity including an overview of the difference between equity and equality in a health care setting, the root causes of health inequities (both historical and contemporary), and the impact of implicit bias and racism on current health outcomes. Participants will learn strategies for how hospitals can work to transform their organizations into anchor institutions by adopting an anchor mission and aligning institutional resources. In addition, the course will cover relevant legislation recently passed at the state level.
As the inaugural Director of Equity, Quality & Safety for NYC Health + Hospitals, Dr. Louis Hart is a featured speaker at Friday, May 14’s Advancing Health Equity: Pathways for Hospitals to Improve Health Virtual Workshop.
