The California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative

The California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative is a multi-stakeholder organization committed to ending preventable morbidity, mortality and racial disparities in California maternity care. CMQCC uses research, quality improvement toolkits, state-wide outreach collaboratives and its innovative Maternal Data Center to improve health outcomes for mothers and infants.

Frontline Community Doula Project

Frontline Doulas is a community-centered project led by Diversity Uplifts and funded by Health Net and aims to provide no-cost doula services to 40 African American birthing people in Los Angeles County.

Happy Mama Healthy Baby Community Doula Program

Offers free and low-cost doula support to diverse families in Los Angeles County. Volunteer Doulas provide labor support, postpartum care, childbirth education classes, breastfeeding help, and support groups for mothers and fathers. They serve all families including adolescents, LBGTQI families, immigrants, and refugees.

African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM)Prevention Initiative

A coalition of the LA County Health Agency (Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, and Department of Health Services), First 5 LA, community organizations, mental and health care providers, funders, and community members. We are united in one purpose: to address the unacceptably high rates of Black infant and maternal deaths in Los Angeles County. Through a series of coordinated AAIMM strategies, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health aims to reduce the gap in Black/White infant mortality rates by 30% by 2023.

Los Angeles County Whole Person Care Doula Project

The Los Angeles County Department of Health (DPH), through funding from the state’s Whole Person Care Initiative, launched a doula pilot designed to address the disproportionately high rates of Black/African American infant and maternal mortality in LA County in October 2019.
