Workshop
Anchor Mission Workshop 2: Inclusive and Local Hiring
Overview
Communities Lifting Communities (CLC), in partnership with the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), is working to advance health equity and economic opportunity through regional collaboration among hospitals, health systems, and partner organizations. The Advancing Health Equity and Economic Opportunity Initiative will convene, engage and support hospital and health system executives and staff in addressing the underlying racial, social, economic, environmental, and systemic conditions that fuel health and economic inequity.
Join our online workshop series and learn about the anchor mission — defined as a commitment to apply economic power in partnership with the community to mutually benefit the long-term well-being of both. You’ll hear about anchor mission and strategy, address common challenges, share best practices and identify opportunities where collective regional action is possible in workforce development, local purchasing, place-based investments, policy and advocacy.
In our second session, participants will continue to expand their knowledge about the anchor mission with a focus on inclusive and local hiring by:
- Learning about inclusive hiring strategies at the individual hospital, county, and regional levels
- Hearing from a peer institution on best practices and lessons learned for workforce development
- Identifying opportunities and defining challenges for inclusive local hiring within institutions and across the region
- Understanding next steps in how HASC and CLC will support the anchor mission work through the regional collaborative
